Implants are designed for long-term use, but the implant, replacement teeth and other components have different care and replacement needs. Longevity varies with health, hygiene, smoking, bite forces and maintenance. No universal lifespan or lifetime result can be promised. Clinical assessment considers oral and general health, gum condition, bone support, medications, smoking, healing and the planned bite. Bone grafting or other preparatory treatment may be needed, and implant treatment is not suitable for everyone. Your examination and imaging determine whether a fixed implant plan is appropriate.
